Rob Shaddock, leader of Motorola Inc.’s mobile devices consumer products group, since April, is leaving the company, Motorola confirmed today. In April, Shaddock had been given charge of the company’s multimedia phones.

Going forward, John Cipolla will lead the consumer products group, reporting directly to co-CEO Sanjay Jha, the company said. Cipolla, a 30-year veteran at the company, had been promoted to manage mid- to high-end phones in April.

Motorola said that Shaddock’s departure has been in the works since before Jha was appointed head of mobile devices earlier this month.
